Studio
studiospillane is a Brisbane-based commercial interior design studio working across aviation, hospitality, hotel and public-facing commercial environments. We design interiors that need to work hard. Our spaces are beautiful, useful, operationally resolved and commercially effective.
Our work brings together human experience, practical delivery, commercial understanding and sustainability in practice. We collaborate with clients, consultants, operators and stakeholders to create places that support people, strengthen business outcomes and make better use of existing buildings, materials and resources.
Successful interior design is more than a beautiful space. It is a business advantage.
How we work
We are a small studio by design.
Our size allows us to stay closely connected to our clients, our projects and the detail of the work. We offer direct senior involvement, clear communication and a calm, collaborative process from early briefing through to delivery.
Angela Spillane, founder and principal, remains closely involved in every project, supported by a team that understands the importance of listening carefully, responding thoughtfully and delivering with care. We work well in complex environments where there are multiple stakeholders, operational constraints, commercial pressures and high expectations. Our role is to bring clarity to that process, balancing design intent with practical delivery, budget, programme, operations and long-term value.
Our process
Understand
We begin by understanding the brief, the site, the client’s goals, the people who will use the space, and the operational, commercial and sustainability priorities.
Strategise
We establish the design direction, key opportunities, constraints and project priorities before moving too quickly into solutions.
Design
We develop spaces that balance experience, function, materiality, budget, delivery and long-term value.
Coordinate
We work with clients, consultants, operators, builders and stakeholders to resolve details and keep the design aligned with the brief.
Deliver
We stay involved through documentation and delivery so the built outcome reflects the design intent and works in practice.
Refine
We listen, review and learn from the completed work. Many of our strongest client relationships continue across multiple projects, allowing each stage of work to inform the next and supporting enduring partnerships over time.
People and leadership
Our studio is led with curiosity, clarity and care.
We are interested in the relationship between people and the built environment, and how the spaces we create can influence behaviour, improve experience, support operations and reduce waste.
studiospillane is a small studio with a hands-on, collaborative team. Angela remains closely involved in every project, supported by designers and studio team members who bring experience across aviation, hospitality, commercial interiors, documentation, visualisation, project delivery and studio operations. We design places where people move, wait, gather, eat, travel, stay, return, work and connect. This human-centred approach sits behind all of our work, whether we are designing an airport terminal, a hotel common area, a club, a café, a commercial precinct or a public-facing interior.
Together, we value clear communication, careful listening and considered design that supports people, operations and long-term outcomes.

Values in practice
Our values are expressed through the way we work.
We value collaboration, integrity, curiosity, clear communication and design excellence.
We are committed to sustainability in practice, not as a separate layer added at the end of a project, but as part of the way we brief, design, specify and deliver.
We prioritise adaptive reuse, long-life materials, Australian-made furniture, local sourcing, reduced waste and thoughtful decisions about how interiors can be retained, repaired, reconfigured or reused.
Long-term relationships
The strength of our long-term client relationships speaks to the way we work.
Repeat business is the best endorsement, and we are proud to work with many clients across multiple projects and many years. We value clients who are thoughtful, ambitious and commercially aware, and who understand that good design can support people, strengthen business outcomes and create places of lasting value.

Felicity Renz, Portfolio Manager Health, HomeCo, Knight Frank
Working with studiospillane on multiple projects to date has been an incredible experience. Angela & her team’s expertise in designing and delivering our Common Good Café at Caboolture Hospital was truly impressive. The studiospillane team brought our vision to life with creativity & precision, all while coordinating seamlessly with all the Queensland Health stakeholders to ensure the project was completed on budget & beautifully designed, yet functional.
Their assistance during the early stages of our Foundation Administration Build Project highlighted their diversity & professionalism, making engagement with builders & architects a seamless process. We're excited to see this project come to fruition in the near future!
Additionally, the early designs for the redevelopment of our main Common Good Café at The Prince Charles Hospital reflect their remarkable ability to blend functionality with aesthetic appeal, perfectly aligning with the upcoming major capital expansion redevelopment works scheduled by Queensland Health. I can't recommend studiospillane highly enough for anyone seeking innovative design solutions that prioritise finish & functionality.
Jason Medok, General Manager, Social Enterprise, The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation
OzHarvest is working with studiospillane on the design and delivery of our Brisbane community kitchen that will see us increase our cooked meal program, engage and educate more corporate teams on reducing food waste, expand food literacy programs, build sustainable funding pipelines and better respond to rising food insecurity including needs arising from natural disasters.
Angela and the team have been magnificent to work with. We appreciate their technical strength, pragmatic focus and good humour. They’ve listened deeply to our desired outcomes, thought inclusively about how we can design the space to benefit diverse guests, and navigated deftly (and patiently!) the challenges of bringing a project like this to life for a philanthropically funded charitable organisation. Angela and the team have even spent the day in our temporary kitchen to observe how we use the space in real time, identifying form and function improvements on the original briefing.
OzHarvest is Australia’s leading food rescue organisation on a mission to ‘Nourish our Country’ by stopping good food from going to waste and delivering it to charities that help feed people in need. Our yellow vans are out and about in communities every day, collecting quality surplus food from a network of donors and delivering it to charities including emergency relief programs, community centres and domestic and family violence shelters. Since OzHarvest commenced operations in Queensland, we have delivered more than 50 million meals to communities in need, diverting 24 million kilograms of excess food from landfill.
